THE RESIDENCE
SEMESTER 2
The design brief for this project was to design a home for Mr. Ahmed Mirza , an architect , music enthusiast , who loves indulging in good cinema and is an avid reader . He hosts several gatherings for his close friends and otherwise would be the only permanent resident of the home.

SITE
The site is located near Arabi falls , in Manipal , Karnataka. with a beautiful view of the lush green forested valley ; a trail near the site leads to a small temple and a picturesque waterfall . The region experiences heavy monsoon and has a hot and humid climate .
CONCEPT
The blocks are divided on the basis of varying levels of privacy required ,as we move deeper (and higher) into the structure .
The masses of the blocks have been arranged in such a manner that the form casts a shadow on itself throughout the day which helps decrease the thermal gain.
Mezzanine floor generates a stack effect .
