SEMESTER 6
The Proposal of the project was to design a design institute offering graduate and post graduate courses mainly in Fashion and Interior Design , with other certificate courses such as photography, creative writing etc also being offered twice , annually.
SITE
The site is located off the Mangalore-Mysur national highway in proximity to the suvarna river . This region has a Hot and Humid climate and experiences heavy rainfall .The lush green Adyar hills frame the background of the site .The total site is 7.5 Acres ; 1.5 Acres of which is left for future expansion.
CONCEPT
The campus is designed in a manner that the structure creates pockets of overcast open shaded spill out spaces as various activities are carried out through out the day and students move through the academic block , dining block , faculty quarters , administrative block , hostels , sports grounds , lawns , parking etc.
There is a play of different levels with stilted buildings that make versatile un-built spaces along with viewing decks ,open study areas , foyers and other spill out spaces.

The Academic block of the campus has an open stilted ground floor plan . The void thus created can be used for a wide spectrum of student activities . It serves as an excellent spill out space which also transforms into workshop spaces, performance area , study area etc.
SOUTH ELEVATION
The Academic block has a distinct form marked by bridges connecting the two built blocks .
These bridges symbolize the design process which is always an exploritative, never ending journey.
There are a variety of labs , calls rooms , workshop spaces , library , study areas , staff cabins and the connecting corridors , foyers , staircases and elevators.
The form is designed in a way that maximum use of natural light and ventilation could be made.

The Dining block is conveniently placed in proximity to the hostel blocks as well as the academic block .
It has separated dining halls along with a grocery store , a dairy and a fruit shop placed in close proximity.

The administrative block has a small cafeteria on the ground floor , along with student affairs and the finance section.
The common office spaces, conference room, balcony sit out etc. are placed on the first floor.

The faculty quarters are essentially 2 BHK apartments with 4 apartment units on each floor .
The apartments itself have good ventilation and natural light. Its placed closer to the parking with a proximate garden .

The hostel block is designed in a manner that the vertical connectors (staircase and elevators) , along with the common service spaces (landing and seating area, water filter and washing machine) have been arranged in a manner so as to increase student encounters with the other occupants which in turn leads to formed friendships and social activities .
